Dance (misprint) is a hand-pulled screen print that came out of the studio with a little something extra — a crease in the paper that gives it a life of its own. This is a misprint, and that means it carries all the energy and craft of the original run with the added honesty of something made by human hands, on a real press, in a real studio. It is not perfect. That is exactly the point.

The Print

The word DANCE hits you hard and fast. Bold, three-dimensional block letters fill the entire image, rendered in a palette that pulls from the best of retro pop typography — hot pink faces, dusty blue-grey sides, deep olive shadows, all sitting on a warm peach ground and pulled together with a thick black outline that gives the whole thing a graphic, almost fairground quality. It is loud without being garish. Joyful without being naïve.

The lettering has that classic hand-lettered, sign-painted energy — the kind of type you might have seen on the side of a van in the 1970s or on a carnival banner at a seaside fair. But there is something considered and contemporary about the way the colours sit together. The dimensional shadow on each letter shifts the palette subtly, giving the composition real depth and weight despite being entirely flat on paper.

The Making

This is a 6 layer screen print, measuring 710 x 240mm, with a beautiful deckled edge that makes it clear this is a hand-finished piece, not something that rolled off a machine. Six layers means six separate pulls, six chances for something to go slightly off — and when it does, you get a misprint. The crease in the paper is the thing here, and it could probably be ironed out with a bit of care. Please check the photos closely before buying — what you see is what you get, and that transparency is the whole spirit of this listing.

Postage and packaging are included in the price, so there are no surprises at checkout.

Why a Misprint?

Misprints are where you get to own a piece of the process. The edition copies went out to their buyers. This one stayed behind, slightly different, slightly imperfect, completely real. It is numbered, it is signed, and it was pulled on the same press with the same inks on the same day as everything else in the run. The crease does not change what this print is — a genuinely brilliant piece of British screen printing craft, full of colour and confidence and movement.

Who is this print for? Collectors who understand that hand-pulled means unrepeatable. Once it's gone, it's gone. Own a piece of British screenprint craft.
