After years of chasing perfect registration, the work started feeling sterile. Too controlled. More digital output than handmade art. The computer got turned off. Handmade positives came back. Raw intuition took over.
Letdown is what happened next.
Fluorescent stripes, yellow, pink, green, orange, layered so thick the background hums. There is a glitch to it. The kind of fuzzy, fractured quality you get from an old TV set losing signal, something familiar but slightly wrong, slightly alive. A riotous bouquet of flowers erupts out of that static, blue, purple and white, each bloom edged in hot yellow-gold.
Across this whole collection, the making was the art itself. The mindset, the return to childhood curiosity, the decision to stop controlling and start reacting. These works are the result of that explosion. Letdown is where it began.
Mounted on a found wooden board salvaged from the local community, something carrying its own history before the first layer of ink went down. Handmade birch float mount frame, 566x773mm, 30mm depth. Signed front and back. Certificate of authenticity included.
