Started as a note to myself. Scribbled during one of those weeks where everything else was eating the time I needed to make work.
Make More Time — A hand-pulled screenprint from the archive. A reminder to create the time you need.
The type sits heavy on the paper. Hand-cut stencils, not computer fonts. Each letter built up through multiple passes, the way signwriters used to work before vinyl plotters made everything perfect and soulless. The imperfections are part of it — the slight registration shifts, the way the ink sits differently on each pull.
This came from the days when I was still learning what screenprinting could do beyond just laying down flat colour. Pushing the medium to see how much texture you could get from what's essentially a very simple process. Mesh, squeegee, ink. But the variables are endless if you're willing to mess about.
Archive pieces like this are reminders of where the work's been. Each one numbered and signed when I pulled them, then stored flat in the studio. Some sold at the time, others kept back. The ones that surface now come with twenty years of hindsight — you can see what was working, what wasn't, where the ideas were heading.
The message is blunt because it needs to be. Time doesn't appear — you make it. You carve it out, you fight for it, you trade other things to get it. Anyone who's tried to maintain a practice alongside everything else knows this. The work doesn't happen by accident.
Printed on heavyweight paper that's held up well in storage. The ink has that slight sheen you get with hand-mixed colours, different from the flat digital stuff. Ships in a tube because that's how prints should travel — protected, unfolded, ready to frame however you want.
