Three screens. Twenty-five pulls. One homage to the era when music had weight.
This isn't nostalgia for nostalgia's sake. It's about the time before playlists, when you'd queue for hours outside HMV, when mixtapes were love letters, when the record shop was your church. When music culture had substance and staying power.
Made for Art Car Boot Fair 2025 in the Kimpton studio — the same village where Oli learned to hate the rules of screenprinting enough to tear them apart. Each print is hand-pulled through three separate screens onto Munken Smooth stock. No shortcuts. No digital assists. Just ink, squeegee, and twenty years of getting it wrong to get it right.
The process matters here. Three layers mean three separate passes, three chances to mess it up, three opportunities for the slight imperfections that make hand-pulled work sing. The registration might shift by a millimetre between layers. The ink might pull slightly different on print forty-seven than it did on print one. That's not a flaw — that's the point.
This is old school in the truest sense. Not the Instagram version of vintage, but the real thing — raw, unpolished, authentic. The kind of music culture that existed before algorithms decided what you should hear next. When discovering new music meant risk, effort, genuine curation by people who cared more about the sound than the stream count.
A3 format on heavyweight stock. Signed by hand, not stamped. Ships in acid-free tissue inside a cardboard tube because it's made to last, not to look good on a feed for five seconds.
