Beginners 2 Layer A4 Screenprint Workshop 

Learn to screenprint with a true master of the craft. This intensive, full-day workshop is taught by me, Oli Fowler, a professional screen printer with over 15 years of industry experience.

You won't just learn the basics; you'll learn the right way to print, with hands-on guidance from a specialist who has taugh all ages at London's top studios for over 10 years.

In this 10am - 4:30pm workshop, you will create your own 2-layer A4 screenprint edition from start to finish.

This is a unique opportunity to get direct access to a career's worth of knowledge.

Introduction to Screenprinting

The day kicks off at 10am with a professional introduction to the entire screenprinting process. I will personally guide you through the studio and the theory behind the craft. You'll get hands-on immediately, learning the expert technique for coating your own screens with photo-emulsion, and I'll show you examples of gallery-level artwork to get you inspired for the day.

Artworking: From Idea to Positive

This is where your main design becomes a printable image. I will personally teach you the digital and analogue methods to turn your design into a "positive" for your second layer. (We will create the simple first layer for your block colour together in the studio). You absolutely do not need to be a Photoshop expert—I will guide you step-by-step.

Exposing: Creating Your Stencils

With your artwork ready, you'll learn how to "burn" your images onto your coated screens using our professional exposure unit. This is the magic step that creates your final stencils. I'll be with you the entire time, guiding you as you wash out your screens to reveal your designs, ready for printing.

Printing: Your 2-Layer Edition

This is where it all comes together. I will show you how to set up your screens on the printing bed and demonstrate the key professional techniques for a flawless print.

• Before lunch, you will print your first layer – a solid A4 block of spot colour. This will give you confidence with the squeegee and technique.

• We will then break for a 1-hour lunch.

• In the afternoon, you will print your second layer—your own design—perfectly registered over the top of your first colour. This is where my 15+ years of experience become invaluable. I will be right there for one-on-one guidance to ensure you leave with a set of prints you are proud of.

• To finish, you'll sign your new edition, and we will have a closing talk to review your work and answer any final questions before we wrap up at 4:30pm.

What to Bring

You only need to bring your main design. We provide all inks, paper, and equipment.

• Your Design: This will be for your second layer. It can be a photograph, a drawing, or a digital illustration.

• File Format: Your design must be A4, black and white.

• Media: Please bring the file on a USB stick. or you can email, airdrop on the day!

• File Type: Save your file as a JPEG, PDF, or PSD.

• Resolution: The file must be 300 dpi to ensure a high-quality print.

You will be able to choose from a wide range of coloured inks on the day!

Workshop & Cancellation Policy

• If you need to cancel or re-arrange your workshop, you must provide 14 working days notice prior to your scheduled date.

• Any cancellation within 14 working days of your workshop date is non-refundable, and a new space cannot be allocated.

• If you cannot make a workshop within this 14-day window, I will endeavour to fill your space. However, a refund or date change can only be made if that space is successfully filled.

• If you fail to turn up for the workshop, you will not be refunded for that space.

• I will always do my best to move you to an alternative date if plenty of notice is given, so please let me know as soon as possible if your plans change!
