Cowabunga - Original Art

"If it's fun, I want some. If it's a chore, I don't want it anymore."

That's the idea behind this whole collection. After years getting screen printing technically right, I wanted it messy again. Cowabunga got its name from the colours, the kind of fluoro that takes me back to Bart Simpson and being a kid in the nineties.

 It's painted and printed on 410gsm somerset satin handmade paper and then attached to a salvaged board, like the rest of this set, with a flower running through it same as the others.

The bottom half is collage, cut from the top half and moved down. Black lines on this one are rougher than usual. Gouache, black paint, acetone, scraped back to let the layers underneath show through, and the colour still shines through the white. There's a blue flower that's shifted colour every time I've worked spray paint over the top of it. I wanted the mistakes to be the point.
