About This Print

Look at it. A cascade of deep pink and purple grapes tumbling down the left of the composition, lush and oversized, rendered with a richness that makes you feel like you could reach in and pull one off the bunch. The word JUICY bursts across the print in fat, bubbly, gloss-effect lettering, shifting from hot pink to orange as it moves down the sheet. Behind everything, blocks of acid yellow, grass green and cobalt blue hold the whole thing together, all sitting inside that beautiful halftone grid that runs across the entire surface. It has the energy of pop art. It has the warmth of something genuinely hand-made.

Two gold leaf hearts sit within the composition, one near the top and one near the bottom. They catch the light differently depending on where you hang this. The gold leaf adds a material richness that photography struggles to do justice to. You have to see it in person.

About the Damage

This is a damaged gold leaf copy. The gold leaf has taken a little knock somewhere along the way. One of the hearts shows some wear. Please look carefully at the photos before buying because this is what you are getting. That said, it is still a beautiful print. The damage is minor, the print itself is stunning, and honestly there is something honest and interesting about a piece that wears its history. It is not perfect. Neither is anything worth having.

This is a 5 layer screenprint at 500x700mm, hand-pulled and finished with real gold leaf. Five layers of ink means five passes through the press, five opportunities for something to go slightly wrong, and in this case, five layers that came together into something seriously good. The halftone texture across the whole image is a deliberate design choice, giving the print a graphic, almost vintage print quality that rewards close inspection.
