Twenty years of learning screen printing rules. Then I spent the next bit breaking them all. OOPS Pink is what happens when you stop fighting the process and start dancing with it.

This is a 2-layer hand-pulled screenprint from the archive — one of those pieces that taught me more than any textbook ever did. Each print carries its own collection of smudges, bleeds, and registration shifts. The pink ink pools where it shouldn't. The layers kiss and separate in ways I never planned. What the manuals call mistakes, I call personality.

The panoramic format — 700 x 300mm — came from working in a studio that used to be a carpenter's workshop. Long, narrow bench space meant long, narrow thinking. Sometimes the constraints make the work. The pink is straight tube colour, no mixing, no overthinking. Just ink doing what ink wants to do when you give it permission to misbehave.

Screen printing is supposed to be about control. Consistent registration. Clean edges. Perfect repeatability. But the best moments happen in the spaces between intention and accident. When the squeegee catches. When the ink flows heavy. When the paper shifts half a millimetre and creates something you couldn't have planned.

Each print in this series carries different smudges because that's how the process wanted to behave that day. Some have heavy bleeds on the left edge. Others show finger marks where I lifted the screen too early. A few have double impressions where I pulled twice without thinking. Every flaw is signed and numbered because every flaw earned its place.

This isn't about celebrating mistakes for the sake of it. It's about recognising that the space between perfect and broken is where most of life actually happens. The Japanese have kintsugi — golden repair. Screen printing has OOPS Pink.

Sold unframed and shipped in a sturdy tube with acid-free tissue. Each print is signed and numbered. No two identical because identical was never the point. This is for collectors who understand that the best work happens when you stop trying to control everything and start listening to what wants to emerge.
