The copper was oxidised first, then printed. Five screens. Three colours, two varnish layers that catch the light differently depending on where you stand. The collage elements — torn from old magazines — are different on each variant. Different fragments, different placements. B, C, D, E. Four journeys down the same road.
This isn't screenprinting as most people know it. Twenty years learning the rules, then tearing them apart. The copper surface fights back against the ink. Some areas take it clean, others reject it entirely. The oxidation process continues after printing — these pieces will keep changing, slowly, over years.
Each variant captures something different about exploration. The fragmented story told through magazine clippings shifts between them. B has more text, C more imagery. D leans into the green patina, E shows more of the raw copper underneath. Four ways of looking at the same winding path.
Framed in hardwood tray frames, ready to hang. The deep frame protects the copper surface while letting light play across the varnish layers. At 385 x 335mm, they're substantial without dominating a wall.
This is about time passing and paths taken. About the way memory works — fragments that stick, pieces that fade. The copper remembers every touch, every chemical reaction, every day it spends existing. It's a surface with its own history.
