Beast - A hand-pulled screenprint from the archive. Raw energy captured in ink.

Started with a torn sheet of card and a marker pen. The kind of drawing you do when you're not thinking about galleries or walls or what anyone else wants to see. Just pure instinct hitting paper.

Twenty years of learning screen printing technique, then throwing half of it out the window for this one. The registration isn't perfect - you can see where the layers shift slightly. That's not a mistake, that's what happens when you're pulling by hand in a village studio, not running through a commercial press. Each print carries the weight of the squeeze, the pressure of the moment.

The ink sits thick on the surface. You can feel the texture under your fingers. This isn't smooth digital reproduction - it's built up in layers, each one pulled through mesh by hand. The black cuts sharp against the paper. No gradients, no subtlety. Just the raw mark-making that got me into this game in the first place.

Pulled these in a small run years ago, then tucked them away. Found them again recently while reorganising the archive. Some pieces need time to breathe before they find their way into the world. This was one of them.

The paper takes the ink differently depending on the humidity in the studio, the temperature, how long the screen's been sitting. Every print in this edition carries its own character. Not variations - personalities.

This is printmaking stripped back to its bones. No fancy papers, no metallic inks, no tricks. Just the essential relationship between hand, screen, and paper that's been driving printmakers for decades. The same process that built the protest posters of the sixties, the gig posters that covered brick walls, the underground press that changed how we think about images.

Shipping: Wrapped in acid-free tissue and shipped in a sturdy cardboard tube.

Perfect for anyone who understands that the best art doesn't always play by the rules. This piece has presence without politeness, energy without explanation. It doesn't need context or theory - it just needs wall space and someone who gets it.
